High Performance Films (www.800-tinting.com)
“Applied solar control window film is a cost-effective retrofit technology most often used to correct heat gain or glare problems. Virtually undetectable when installed, these thin metallized polyester laminates use an adhesive backing to attach to the interior glass surface of existing windows, creating a radiant barrier that protects you and your home from the harmful effects of the sun. Film works by increasing the solar (not necessarily visible) reflectivity and solar absorption of the glass to selectively reduce the incident solar radiation transmitted through it.
Window films have changed dramatically since first introduced in 1968 and bear little resemblance to earlier products, which scratched, faded, bubbled or peeled. Among the better film manufacturers, today’s products have durable, hardened finishes, long-lasting chemical-bond adhesives, and optical clarity and stability that is excellent. In their current state of development applied films can provide the types of benefits typical of expensive glazing systems. Depending on environmental and other variables, professionally installed films can hold up for 25 or more years, although most manufacturers offer lifetime residential warranties with professional installation. And, since windows typically contribute from 30 to 50 percent of
residential solar heat loads and cooling costs, simple payback averages between
two and three years.
You can select from a wide range of technologically advanced films with different insulating, optical and mechanical properties, each suited to its own problem context. Never dark or shiny, properly installed films are safe and effective on virtually all window types, especially those with tinted, dualpane glass.
Now you can maintain clear, unaltered views, day or night, and enjoy the benefits of window film without detracting from the character and beauty of your home.”
